Job Opportunity: Technical Accounting Specialist (SAP FS-RI)

For our client, a leading reinsurer based in Zurich, we are seeking a dedicated and skilled Professional for the role of Technical Accounting Specialist (SAP FS-RI) (100%; m/f/d).

Role Overview

As a Technical Accounting Specialist (SAP FS-RI), you will play a pivotal role in overseeing technical settlement activities, ensuring compliance in reporting, and maintaining high-quality claims and accounting processes. You will facilitate seamless coordination with stakeholders and contribute to ongoing process and organizational development.

What to Expect

  • Contribute to key work packages for quarterly and annual financial statements for the firm and the Group in accordance with Swiss GAAP/OR and IFRS, including the coordination of complex balance sheet items.
  • Independently manage specialized accounting topics and support (partial) project management within the SAP FS-RI and accounting framework.
  • Conduct technical reviews and finalize incoming and outgoing (retrocession) technical accounts while considering complex reinsurance contract structures.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely processing of payables and receivables, including clarifying and escalating discrepancies with internal and external partners.
  • Support the monitoring and coordination of international payment flows in close collaboration with Treasury and external stakeholders.
  • Perform quality-assured reviews, plausibility checks, and accounting of claims reports, analyzing deviations, trends, and reporting patterns.
  • Act as a technical point of contact for international business partners and internal stakeholders (underwriting, risk management, actuarial, business process management) in both German and English.
  • Drive the enhancement and further development of internal processes, reporting structures, system functionalities, and automation initiatives.

What We Expect

  • A completed business or economics degree, ideally with a focus on accounting or insurance.
  • Several years of professional experience in technical accounting within the reinsurance sector.
  • Extensive knowledge of accounting processes, balance sheet relationships, and technical accounting logic.
  • Strong SAP experience, with FS-RI knowledge as both a user and in support/administration roles.
  • Proficient use of MS Office (especially Excel) with a strong IT affinity.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in both English and German.
  • A high level of initiative, a strong sense of responsibility, and a passion for cross-functional collaboration.
  • The ability to present complex issues appropriately for different audiences and provide technical support to junior team members.
  • Strong analytical thinking, a structured approach to work, and exceptional problem-solving abilities.
