Your Mission

Job Description

Manufacturing Process Expert: As Climeworks' core expert in the operation of novel manufacturing lines for sorbent filter production, you will oversee all aspects of manufacturing process engineering.

  • Understand process parameters and their impact on products.
  • Evaluate and fine-tune the parameter ranges used in equipment procurement and startup.
  • Lead the ramp-up, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis of manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct and own process FMEAs before, during, and after the startup phase.
  • Ensure thorough documentation, training, and knowledge transfer.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: You will collaborate closely with internal experts in R&D, quality characterization, product design, and sorbent/process development to guarantee high-quality sorbent module products, supporting the development of new testing methods.

External Partnerships & Technical Leadership: You will act as a key technical expert in collaborations with external partners, ensuring DAC-specific requirements for sorbent filter manufacturing are met, including on-site monitoring of operations when necessary.

Team Player: You will support lab-scale manufacturing in R&D and assist in evaluating new concepts for future-oriented DAC solutions.

Your Story

Requirements

  • Educational Background: A degree in process engineering, manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, materials science, or a related field.
  • Work Experience: Approximately 5-10 years in a manufacturing environment, with significant experience in startup phases and commercial product delivery.
  • Field Expertise: Experience with continuous manufacturing lines, particularly in powder handling processes, adhering to HSE regulations and ATEX requirements.
  • Methods: Proficient in process modeling approaches (e.g., heat and mass transfer) and structured risk-identification and problem-solving tools (e.g., process FMEA, 5 Whys, Fishbone).
  • Working Style & Ownership: Initiative-driven, results-oriented, and detail-focused throughout the entire development cycle, from lab to high-level evaluations.
  • Communication & Project Leadership: Strong collaboration skills across teams, clear communication abilities, and experience leading both in-house and external projects.
  • Language & Travel Flexibility: Fluent in English, at least B1 in German, and open to frequent travel (up to 60%, primarily between the Munich and Zurich areas). Proficiency in French is an advantage.

Formalities

This position is based in the Zurich and Munich areas. The percentage indicated in the job title reflects flexibility; you may choose between full-time or part-time options based on your preferences.
