Senior Java Developer (Distributed Financial Systems)

About the Client

Join a vibrant team that is at the forefront of designing and operating high-availability backend services for investment platforms. This role will enable you to contribute in building a new channel that connects investment capabilities to external clients through e-banking. Team members collaborate across Zurich and Singapore, and you will have the opportunity to influence the strategic direction of a platform from an early stage.

Job Description

• Design distributed systems that balance scalability, latency, consistency, and fault tolerance; implement idempotency, back pressure, and resilience patterns for financial workloads.
• Build and maintain Java, Spring, and Spring Boot services and APIs, optimizing asynchronous processing, input/output (I/O), and end-to-end performance.
• Develop reliable integration and messaging flows utilizing relational databases, JPA, JDBC, and JMS; ensure data integrity, security, and auditability.
• Investigate bottlenecks using profiling, benchmarking, and load testing; take ownership of solutions from design through deployment and production support.
• Collaborate with product and technology colleagues on the client channel, contributing to reviews, testing, continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD), and controlled delivery.

Requirements

• Senior-level Java experience including Core Java, Collections, JSON, and JDBC; strong proficiency in Spring Framework and Spring Boot.
• Proven experience in distributed systems and microservices, particularly in event-driven design and low-latency, high-availability services.
• Practical knowledge of relational databases, JPA, JMS, Unix or Linux, and bash scripting, as well as OAuth2, API security, and identity and access management (IAM) concepts.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (preferably Azure), Docker, Kubernetes, and DevOps practices; experience in the financial sector is an advantage.
• Demonstrated ownership, sound judgment, and a collaborative approach in a global agile team.
