At OncDS, we specialize in utilizing high-throughput genomic and biomarker data for target identification, drug discovery, and clinical development.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Senior Computational Scientist / Data Engineer who can integrate data science tools with biological knowledge to conduct exploratory data analyses, curate high-quality datasets, establish efficient data workflows, and implement automation and AI to enhance the accuracy and scalability of our data systems.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to curate key experimental and omics datasets, emphasizing quality and precision to ensure the integrity of our complex scientific data.
  • Perform exploratory data analyses on crucial experimental and omics datasets.
  • Evaluate and implement automation tools and AI/ML methodologies to enhance data curation and exploratory data analysis workflows, improving the efficiency and accuracy of data handling.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to develop and adopt best practices for data engineering.

Essential Requirements:

  • An advanced degree (PhD, MS, or BS) in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field with relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 5-8 years in academia or industry in a similar capacity within computational biology, bioinformatics, data engineering, or a related domain.
  • At least 4-5 years of experience handling molecular biology or omics data.
  • Demonstrated statistical and analytical rigor in exploratory data analyses, drawing scientific conclusions from experimental data (e.g., scRNAseq, RNAseq, ChIPseq, DNAseq, proteomics, compound screens, or CRISPR screens).
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages related to bioinformatics (R, Python).
  • Familiarity with version control, reproducible workflows, and Unix/Linux commands.
  • Curiosity, creativity, strong organizational skills, and a solution-oriented approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences.
