80%-100%, Basel, permanent
The ETH Zurich core facility NEXUS Personalized Health enables discovery and translational research for personalized health. We offer a broad range of expertise, from software engineering and biomedical data management to lab automation and screening services. Embedded in this multi-disciplinary team, the clinical bioinformatics group applies expertise in bioinformatics and statistics to advance biomedical research and clinical applications.
We are recruiting a Senior Bioinformatics Analyst for the Clinical Bioinformatics Group of NEXUS Personalized Health in Basel, to commence immediately or by mutual agreement.
The primary focus of this position is the project-specific analyses of diverse high-throughput multi-omics datasets, encompassing a broad range of data types such as whole-genome and transcriptome sequencing, single-cell, and spatial data. As a Senior Bioinformatics Analyst, you will play a key role in designing, executing, and documenting analytical workflows while applying scientific rigor and best practices throughout your work.
While you will lead your assigned analyses, you will collaborate closely with the group lead and other experts within the NEXUS team. The role combines independent analytical work with active participation in joint project planning, interpretation, and dissemination of results.
Your responsibilities will also include the development and maintenance of reproducible analysis pipelines and software tools, contributing to the team’s shared infrastructure. Moreover, you will help ensure that data are managed in accordance with the FAIR principles and support our partners in adopting best practices for Research Data Management (RDM).
Our projects span biomedical research and clinical diagnostics, covering a wide range of applications—from basic NGS data processing to clinical reporting and public health surveillance. NEXUS collaborates closely with academic institutions and hospitals, offering a dynamic environment where scientific excellence and collaboration drive impactful outcomes.
We are looking for a motivated and diligent colleague who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and has a strong interest in clinical science and translational research.
At NEXUS, we value knowledge exchange and teamwork, where everyone brings their own expertise. As a small group, we have flat hierarchies and offer flexible working hours as well as family-friendly working models. We provide training opportunities and a broad and exciting field of work at the cutting edge of translational research.
In line with our values, ETH Zurich encourages an inclusive culture. We promote equality of opportunity, value diversity, and nurture a working and learning environment in which the rights and dignity of all our staff and students are respected. Sustainability is a core value for us — we are consistently working towards a climate-neutral future.
