Job Opportunity: (Senior) IT Application and Data Manager
For our client in Zurich, a prestigious reinsurance company, we are seeking an experienced (Senior) IT Application and Data Manager to join their dynamic team.
About Your Role
As a vital member of a two-person IT team, you will significantly influence the company's technology, data, and reporting landscape. In this highly visible role, you will combine the responsibilities of an application owner, business solutions partner, data specialist, and project manager, with direct exposure to senior management.
You will take ownership of the company’s core reinsurance platform, Synergy2, and drive the digital transformation and continuous enhancement of business processes across underwriting, operations, finance, claims, and reporting. By closely collaborating with business stakeholders, external vendors, and technology partners, you will ensure that systems, data, and reporting capabilities effectively align with the company's strategic objectives and support its future growth.

Key Responsibilities
- Application Ownership & Business Solutions
- Serve as the product owner for Synergy2, managing backlogs, testing, and ongoing enhancements.
- Act as the primary liaison between business users and external vendors, translating business requirements into practical technology solutions.
- Design and deliver business solutions, defining requirements, scope, priorities, and user acceptance testing (UAT) while identifying opportunities for process optimization and automation.
- Lead and coordinate IT projects from requirements through implementation and post-deployment support.
- Business Analytics, Reporting & Automation
- Design and maintain data flows and integrations between Synergy2 and reporting, finance, underwriting, claims, and pricing systems.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency across applications and databases.
- Support quarterly and annual financial closing processes through data extraction, reconciliation, and reporting.
- Develop and maintain reporting and analytics solutions using Power BI, SAP Business Objects, and MS SQL.
- Deliver management information and reporting solutions for underwriting, portfolio monitoring, claims, receivables, cash allocation, and pricing.
- Contribute to IT Governance, Infrastructure, and Vendor Management
- Manage the IT budget and support cost control activities in collaboration with the finance team.
- Occasionally coordinate IT audits and related follow-up tasks in collaboration with Risk Management and Compliance.
Skills & Experience
- Education & Languages
- University degree (MSc or BSc) in Information Systems, Business Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
- Fluent English is required; proficiency in Korean and/or additional European languages is an advantage.
- Professional Experience
- A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in IT application management, business intelligence, data management, and technology, preferably within the (re-)insurance or financial services sector.
- Experience managing third-party software vendors and technology service providers.
- Proficiency in designing and supporting business-critical applications and data environments.
- Strong understanding of insurance or reinsurance business processes, including underwriting, operations, finance, reinsurance accounting, and reporting.
- Technical Skills
- Proficient SQL skills and experience with relational databases, preferably MS SQL.
- Experience with Power BI, Business Objects, and Excel-based reporting solutions.
- Familiarity with automation technologies and API-based integrations is a plus.
- Basic understanding of application and data architecture, system integration, cloud concepts, and modern IT infrastructure environments.
- Some experience with workflow, analytics, and data processing platforms (e.g., Alteryx or similar tools).
