The Development Economics Group (DEC) at ETH Zurich is committed to conducting empirical economics research aimed at informing effective policies to reduce global poverty and inequality. Our mission is to develop social innovations that address these pressing global challenges through empirical and experimental economic research.

Position Available: Research Assistant in Development Economics

We are currently offering a research assistant position in Development Economics. The starting date is September 1, 2026, for a period of six months with monthly compensation.

This position is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable research experience between completing a Master's degree and entering a Ph.D. program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data cleaning and statistical analysis preparation for academic publications.
  • Results visualization, literature reviews, and data searches.
  • Assistance with organizational tasks essential for running our research group.

Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree in economics, statistics, or development studies.
  • Strong background in quantitative methods and an enthusiasm for coding.
  • Interest in global poverty and inequality topics.
  • Proficiency in statistical software such as R and/or STATA is required.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Knowledge of InDesign and/or proficiency in French or German is a plus, though not required.
  • Experience working with an international organization focused on global development is advantageous, but not mandatory.
