Job opportunity
100%, Basel, fixed-term
We are developing innovative lab-on-chip technology (or microfluidic technology) for diverse applications in the life sciences and biomedicine. Our interdisciplinary approach combines the design and fabrication of miniaturized platforms and their optimization for biochemical assays and analytical procedures.
For a third-party funded project spanning four years, we are offering a position for a postdoctoral fellow.
The project, RadiantDx, is a multidisciplinary collaboration focused on addressing the diagnosis of sepsis, a severe health condition characterized by nonspecific symptoms, such as high fever. To support physicians in determining appropriate treatment, we aim to develop a miniaturized system for the rapid diagnosis of sepsis. This technology is designed to reduce unnecessary administration of antibiotics, ultimately improving patient survival and recovery. Working alongside researchers from the Institute of Medical Microbiology at the University of Zurich, the Department of Informatics at ETH Zurich, and other partners, we aim to combine microfluidic technology, sequencing, and fast data analysis to tackle this challenging issue.
Within the Bioanalytics Group, a postdoctoral fellow will collaborate closely with a PhD student on various aspects of the microfluidic platform and sample preparation.
The postdoctoral fellow will work collaboratively with a PhD student on the following tasks:
