PhD Position Focused on Electrocatalysis

100%, Zurich, fixed-term

Our research group investigates how electrolyte environments influence reaction kinetics and product selectivity in the electrochemical CO2 reduction reaction (CO2RR) and related electrocatalytic processes. We prioritize mechanistic insights and utilize advanced, in-situ characterization techniques, including FTIR, Raman, DEMS, EQCM, and GC, coupled with detailed electrochemical studies. We are seeking a PhD researcher to contribute to and grow within these pioneering efforts.

Job Description

This full-time position is set to begin on February 1st, 2026, or later. You will join a collaborative, inclusive, and intellectually stimulating environment that values scientific creativity and curiosity.

Profile

  • You should possess a recent Master's degree (or be close to its completion) in Chemistry, Material Science, Chemical or Process Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • We seek candidates who are self-driven, highly motivated, and excited to work within an interdisciplinary team—with a passion for contributing to solutions in the global energy landscape.
  • While we welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds, prior experience in the following areas is advantageous:
    • Catalysis and/or electrochemistry
    • Experience with synchrotron facilities and/or other in-situ characterization techniques
