About the Role

The Medical Communications Manager will serve as Takeda’s external-facing scientific communications leader for GI2 (Gastroenterology and Inflammation). This role involves planning and executing medical education and omni-channel scientific communications— including traditional, innovative, and digital formats. Collaborating closely with DD&T (Digital, Data & Technology), Field Medical, and Medical Advisors, you will translate complex evidence into clear, compliant, and impactful narratives, craft customer journeys, and leverage AI-driven analytics and advanced CRM tools to enhance reach, engagement, and educational outcomes.

How You Will Contribute

  • Scientific Communications Strategy: Own the GI2 medical communications plan aligned with the medical plan; define audiences, messages, channels, and success metrics while ensuring scientific accuracy and consistency across materials.
  • Medical Education (MedEd): Design and deliver accredited and non-accredited educational initiatives (e.g., symposia, webinars, masterclasses, microlearning) in partnership with external experts and internal stakeholders. Undertake evaluations to measure learning outcomes and address educational gaps within the GI2 therapeutic area.
  • Omni-Channel Orchestration: Create strategic scientific customer journeys and execute omni-channel campaigns (email, web, social media, virtual events) utilizing OCE automation and personalized content based on insights and KOL profiling.
  • Content Operations & Review: Adapt and create scientific content (slides, leave-behinds, infographics, videos, FAQs) while managing references, scientific narratives, and MLR reviews in Veeva Vault or similar platforms.
  • Insights & Analytics: Use data analytics and dashboards to evaluate reach, engagement, and impact; implement A/B testing and optimization strategies.
  • Publications Support (Local): Coordinate with Medical Advisors and Global Publications on local publication needs (abstracts, posters, congress booths) in accordance with global/local publication policies.
  • Collaboration & Governance: Collaborate cross-functionally with Field Medical, Medical Advisors, DD&T, Market Access, PV, and Legal/Compliance to ensure timely and compliant execution.
  • Vendor & Budget Management: Select and manage external agencies/vendors; track budgets, timelines, and quality to ensure alignment with scope of work and performance.
  • Compliance & Ethics: Ensure all activities adhere to Takeda’s values, SOPs, local codes, and regulatory standards, maintaining fair-balanced, non-promotional scientific communication.

Skills and Capabilities You Bring to the Role

  • Advanced degree in Life Sciences (PharmD/PhD/MD or MSc with equivalent experience).
  • Native-level proficiency in German or French; excellent English language skills; capable of producing and reviewing scientific content with rigor and clarity.
  • 2–4 years of experience in Medical Affairs/Medical Communications; experience in Immunology (Psoriasis, Psoriatic Arthritis, or Inflammatory Bowel Disease) is a plus.
  • Strong scientific writing, storytelling, and health literacy skills.
  • Excellent teamwork skills, with a high degree of agility and enjoyment for interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Advanced digital literacy: practical experience with OCE/campaign automation (Salesforce Marketing Cloud), Veeva Vault (PromoMats/MedComms), and Microsoft 365 (Teams, Planner, Copilot).
  • Data literacy and proficiency with AI-driven analytics (dashboards, experimentation, KPI tracking).
  • Project and vendor management skills, with the ability to handle multiple initiatives simultaneously while maintaining high quality.
  • Strong understanding of compliance frameworks and local industry codes pertaining to scientific/MedEd activities.

Capabilities

  • Scientific Digital Communication, Medical Education, and Storytelling: Facilitate conversations with external experts to collaboratively develop medical education initiatives and scientific communication using evidence-based content.
  • Omni-Channel Design & Execution: Translate strategy into cohesive customer journeys, optimizing channel mix and content for enhanced engagement and learning outcomes.
  • Stakeholder Influence: Align cross-functional partners and external stakeholders without direct authority; negotiate effectively to safeguard scientific integrity and timelines.
  • Measurement Mindset: Define KPIs (reach, engagement, completion, MoA comprehension); run experiments and iterate based on findings.
  • Digital Collaboration with DD&T: Co-create scalable, compliant, and privacy-safe solutions; support data governance and content taxonomy for optimal findability and reuse.
  • Innovation & Continuous Learning: Proactively engage in upskilling in AI, analytics, and emerging formats; integrate external best practices into Takeda’s Medical Communications.
