Join our market-leading Deal Transformation and Post-Merger Integration team in Switzerland, where we provide advisory services to corporate, private equity, and mid-market clients. Our aim is to help clients generate and create value throughout the M&A lifecycle. We assess operational performance, identify value creation opportunities, and navigate the complexities of acquisitions, divestitures, and carve-outs while cooperating closely with transaction services, valuations, and corporate finance teams.

Your Impact

In this role, you will collaborate with corporate management teams, private equity investors, and M&A professionals to uncover and realize value from M&A transactions. You will shape strategic thinking, address critical performance issues, and leverage Deloitte's comprehensive capabilities to maximize deal value.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily delivery of M&A value creation and pre-deal due diligence engagements or workstreams, engaging with client counterparts on content, findings, and priorities.
  • Team up with project groups to perform due diligence, operational analyses, and financial baselining, ensuring quality in analyses and deliverables.
  • Assist corporate and private equity clients in understanding the operational capabilities of potential acquisition targets and existing portfolio companies.
  • Evaluate potential merger synergies and assess the complexities of carve-outs on both seller and target organizations.
  • Structure and conduct client interviews to identify operational challenges and value creation opportunities with senior stakeholders.
  • Synthesize qualitative and quantitative information into clear, evidence-based value creation hypotheses and a compelling narrative.
  • Utilize a pragmatic 80/20 mindset to concentrate deliverables on the issues most significant to the transaction and investment thesis.
  • Provide practical operational value creation advice backed by evidence from interviews, data analysis, financial baselines, and external benchmarks.
  • Manage engagement scope, priorities, timelines, budgets, risks, and quality in collaboration with Partners, Directors, and Senior Managers.
  • Develop trusted-adviser relationships with corporate executives, private equity investors, and functional leaders.
  • Support business development initiatives through proposals, client pitches, and relationship development.
  • Lead practice development initiatives focusing on M&A value creation and pre-deal due diligence.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in business, economics, finance, engineering, or another relevant discipline.
  • At least five years of professional experience in M&A, particularly in commercial or operational due diligence within a Big Four accounting firm, strategy consultancy, or specialized restructuring and turnaround advisory.
  • In-depth experience in operational due diligence, including synergy identification, tracking, and realization.
  • Experience in commercial due diligence, business planning, and revenue growth is ideal.
  • Knowledge of due diligence processes and documentation within an advisory context.
  • Familiarity with industries such as Energy, Resources & Industrials; Consumer; Life Sciences & Healthcare; or Technology, Media & Telecommunications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to dissect complex issues, identify root causes, and recommend actionable solutions.
  • Full professional proficiency in English; fluency in German, particularly Swiss German, is highly desirable.
