Logistics Specialist (Global Clinical Distribution)
Background:
The Clinical Distribution organization aims to ensure that the right product is in the right place at the right time, guaranteeing that no patient will go without treatment and no clinical trial will be delayed. The Logistics Specialist is a vital member of the Network & Capability chapter, jointly accountable for all elements of clinical supply chain distribution for the global Roche/Genentech portfolio encompassing over 500 studies. This chapter is responsible for enabling optimized and reliable clinical distribution for all studies, managing more than 100k shipments yearly across over 130 countries through effective industry-leading strategies, processes, and systems.
The Logistics Specialist executes all shipments, ensuring they are processed smoothly and comply with country-specific requirements. This role involves close collaboration with internal and external logistics partners and the broader distribution community, including all chapters, IT, and the Roche network to drive portfolio and pipeline delivery.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Operational order management and handling of clinical supply shipments (including Investigational Medicinal Product), including drop shipments where applicable
- Manage all relevant documents/licenses according to country-specific requirements
- Monitor shipments to ensure on-time delivery, proactively addressing potential challenges and interruptions
- Maintain and update country-specific requirements
- Act as the main point of contact for stakeholders and partners regarding shipping and logistics inquiries
- Collaborate closely with various site logistics teams, including warehouse (KAU and SSF), transportation, and customs management
- Participate in projects and initiatives after fulfilling the relevant role duration
Must Haves:
- Completed degree or vocational training
- Mandatory background in (Clinical) Supply Chain, Logistics, Freight Forwarding, or related fields
- Alternative backgrounds: Degrees in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, Chemistry, etc., will be considered if supported by relevant work experience in Supply Chain/Logistics
- A minimum of 2 years of pertinent professional experience
- Strict requirement for GDP (Good Distribution Practice) experience; GMP experience is a plus
- Familiarity with ERP systems: SAP knowledge is preferred, but experience with other domain-specific ERP/Logistics tools is acceptable
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace is mandatory
- Business-fluent in German and English, with a good command of industry-specific vocabulary
Nice to Have:
- Strong sense of urgency, proactive mindset, and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- High affinity for IT systems/ERP, with hands-on experience in SAP considered a strong advantage
