Your Mission
Job Description
- Technical Direction: Define and maintain the technical direction for the Electrical Department. Lead the development of tailored EIC specifications, design philosophies, and a comprehensive basis of design for global execution. Ensure clear owner requirements are documented, communicated to contractors, and validate design assumptions against operability, safety, and compliance with local and regional codes.
- Contractor Management: Review and approve contractor submissions for electrical systems and power distribution, enforce owner requirements, provide technical clarifications, and ensure adherence to schedule, quality, safety, and operability.
- System Reliability & Innovation: Lead initiatives to enhance reliability and performance of electrical systems, troubleshoot issues, and implement preventive measures while evaluating and introducing emerging technologies.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the primary electrical interface with process, instrumentation and controls, mechanical, and project management teams to ensure integrated designs. Identify and mitigate electrical risks during design and operation phases, supporting project teams with scope, cost, and schedule estimates.
- Team Leadership & Continuous Improvement: Supervise and mentor junior team members, providing guidance on technical challenges while driving lessons-learned sessions to promote continuous improvement and maintain a robust knowledge base.
- Cold-Weather and Constructability: Integrate climate conditions into electrical design and execution planning for both cold and hot weather environments. Ensure designs are constructible and operable under extreme conditions while considering temporary works and interfaces with cold-weather activities.
Your Story
Requirements
- Professional Experience: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in process plants across various climates as an Electrical Engineer. Experience in team leadership is essential.
- Project Experience: Hands-on involvement in at least one full-cycle project in mining, water treatment, oil and gas, or other comparable industries, covering all phases from FEED and detailed design to construction, commissioning, and startup, preferably in remote or seasonally constrained execution environments. Expertise in low and medium voltage electrical systems, industrial instrumentation, and control systems is required.
- Cold-Weather Industrial Plant Experience: Extensive experience working within industrial plants in cold-weather environments (e.g., Canada, Nordic countries) and an understanding of the operational, maintenance, and safety challenges associated with such conditions.
- Communication & Collaboration: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with diverse stakeholders, including third-party vendors in IP-sensitive collaborations.
- Working Style: Precise, adaptable, and reliable, with a proactive and solution-oriented approach. Comfortable making decisions and taking ownership in both office and field settings, particularly under constraints including winter productivity and schedule risk. Highly organized with strong planning and prioritization skills.
- Language Skills and Travel: Fluent in English and willing to travel up to 40% of the time, including extended site presence during peak design, engineering, construction, and commissioning periods.
