Position Overview

The Head of Art will hold overall responsibility for the art team, managing and optimizing team performance in collaboration with other leads and the CEO.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of currently six in-house artists, along with external freelancers and art studios.
  • Define individual responsibilities, identify growth opportunities, evaluate performance, and promote team members.
  • Enhance team performance, define new profiles, and recruit new team members as needed.
  • Communicate essential goals to the team, inspire motivation, and set a positive example.
  • Gather feedback from team members, ensuring discipline and fairness within the team.
  • Ensure project deadlines are met while fostering a culture of learning from experiences.
  • Collaborate closely with the Head of Product, Head of Development, and the CEO.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of leadership experience, with a minimum of 5 years as a 3D artist or in a similar role.
  • Advanced knowledge of renowned 3D modeling software, content pipelines, and custom tools.
  • Experience with 2D tools such as Substance texturing tools and Photoshop.
  • Strong leadership qualities, showcasing empathy for the motivation of high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, adept at interacting with both technical and non-technical team members.
  • Exceptional organizational, moderation, and social skills, combined with a firm assertiveness.
  • A strong portfolio that demonstrates the products you have contributed to in your career.
  • Proficiency in both German and English (B2 level or higher).

Preferences

  • A degree in game development, formal art education, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Advanced understanding of shader languages, scripting, and programming.
  • Experience within the video game industry, having worked on shipped products.
