ZIS Bilingual Pathway

ZIS launched a bilingual pathway in August 2021, meeting the requirements of the Swiss Lehrplan 21 curriculum. This pathway has grown to include classes from Early Childhood through to Grade 5, with Grade 6 set to open in August 2026, and plans to extend to Grade 9 in the coming years.

The Bilingual Pathway serves as an alternative route to our full international curriculum. Our team includes German-speaking and bilingual homeroom teachers who are integral to the extended international grade-level teaching framework.

The Position

We are currently seeking an experienced, bilingual (C2 German & English) Grade 6 homeroom teacher. This role involves instruction in both German and English, and is suited for someone excited by the challenges and benefits of working in an international environment that values professional collaboration and multilingualism. The position includes planning time, access to ongoing professional development—both local and international—and opportunities for international networking. Additionally, there will be chances to collaborate with specialist subject teachers and an extensive team of support teachers.

Requirements

Candidates must have recent, relevant experience teaching in a German-speaking or bilingual homeroom class. Experience with Lehrplan 21 is an advantage, though not essential. An EDK teaching certification is required; however, ZIS can support this application if you qualify and have not yet applied. Candidates must provide evidence of the following:

  • German & English proficiency (C2 level)
  • Qualified teacher status
  • Learner-centered focus
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Ability to differentiate for diverse learning needs, including students with multiple language learning needs
  • Teamwork, collaboration, and active participation in school life
  • Experience with interdisciplinary teaching
  • Commitment to collaborative planning and teaching
  • Integration of technology into the curriculum
  • Inquiry-based pedagogical approach
  • Emphasis on relationship building with students and colleagues
