ZIS Mission: At Zurich International School (ZIS), we strive to ignite and inspire each learner's curiosity, critical thinking, and high expectations. Our goal is for students to positively impact their families, communities, and the world.
We are a learning community comprised of students, faculty, staff, and parents, dedicated to fostering a nurturing environment that supports the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth of our students. We value diversity and a plurality of voices, ensuring our students develop not just the intellect and skills, but also the character to become caring individuals and adaptable, independent thinkers.
The quality of teaching is the most significant factor influencing student learning. Great teachers cultivate great learners, and we are in search of a highly motivated, team-oriented educator who aligns with our mission and vision and is enthusiastic about contributing to the ongoing development of our program and school. We encourage candidates with a learner-centered approach, a growth mindset, and a commitment to continuous professional development to consider this opportunity. Launched in August 2021, the ZIS bilingual pathway meets the requirements of the Swiss Lehrplan 21 curriculum. This pathway has expanded to include classes from Early Childhood through Grade 5, with Grade 6 set to open in August 2026. Students will progress to Grade 9 in subsequent years.
The Bilingual Pathway offers an alternative to our full international pathway, and German-speaking and bilingual homeroom teachers play an integral role in our international grade-level teaching team.
We are seeking an experienced bilingual (C2 German & English) Grade 6 homeroom teacher. The ideal candidate will be excited about the challenges and benefits of working in an international environment that values professional collaboration and multilingualism. The position includes planning time, ongoing professional development (both local and international), and networking opportunities. It also provides the chance to collaborate with specialist subject teachers and an extensive team of support staff.
Applicants must possess recent, relevant experience teaching in a German-speaking or bilingual homeroom class. While recent experience with Lehrplan 21 is advantageous, it is not essential. EDK teaching certification is required; however, ZIS can support this application if applicants meet the necessary requirements but have not yet applied.
