Part-Time Nanny Position (35%) – Native German Speaker

A warm and welcoming family is seeking an experienced, gentle, and reliable nanny to primarily care for their eldest daughter, who is 22 months old. This is a long-term position that will be based between Thônex (Canton of Geneva) and Nernier (France), depending on the time of year.

Position Details

  • Start Date: As soon as possible
  • Contract: CDI – long-term position
  • Working Rate: Approximately 35% (around 14 hours per week)
  • Schedule: 2 full days per week (ideally Tuesday and Wednesday; flexible; no Fridays)
  • Hours: 08:00 to 15:00
  • Accommodation: External position (live-out)

Work Locations

  • From May to September: Nernier, France (74140 – about 30 minutes from Geneva)
  • From September to April: Thônex, Canton of Geneva (1226)

The nanny must be comfortable with this annual arrangement. Parking spaces are available at both locations. A car is recommended for commuting to Nernier, but it is not required for job duties, as transporting the children is done using public transport.

Main Responsibilities

  • Propose engaging activities (reading, interactions, games, outdoor outings)
  • Encourage the child's development in a calm, structured environment inspired by Montessori pedagogy
  • Manage daily routines (lunch, nap, etc.)
  • Respect the child's rhythm, particularly concerning sleep
  • Ensure a secure, stable, and stimulating environment
  • Occasionally care for a baby in the future (around spring 2027)
  • Perform small daily tasks related to the children (no housework required)

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Confirmed experience with young children (toddlers, ideally infants)
  • Gentle, patient, reliable, and attentive
  • Ability to establish a structured and reassuring environment
  • Interest in child development, ideally with a Montessori approach
  • Comfortable in the presence of a parent (the mother will be at home)
  • Comfortable with dogs (there are two English bulldogs)
  • No use of the phone during working hours

Language Requirements

  • Native or Fluent German: (Hochdeutsch / standard German) – mandatory (Clear and consistent use of standard German with the children is essential)
  • English or French: A plus
