Role Summary

The Finance Partner provides financial information, advice, analysis, forecasting, and training in fund management to support country program leadership within their portfolio. This role plays a vital part in delivering effective financial plans and managing resources, ultimately ensuring improved program delivery and fund oversight.

Project Overview

The Medair GSO Finance Department primarily focuses on making informed financial and investment decisions. Acting as a financial gatekeeper and strategic advisor, this department supports daily business operations as well as mid- to long-term strategic decisions for Medair. Key processes are streamlined and optimized through a fit-for-purpose finance system.

Workplace & Conditions

This position is based at the Global Support Office (GSO) in Lausanne, Switzerland. Suitable candidates include Swiss or eligible EU citizens or those with a valid work permit for Switzerland.

Responsibilities

  • Institutional and Private Funding Management: Monitor and analyze budgets, update tools, and ensure accurate reporting. Support audits, communicate findings, and manage risks and opportunities.
  • Country Funding Strategy and Monitoring: Provide technical advice to country program senior management, develop and review financial plans, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Process Development: Innovate finance processes, support system optimization, and lead or participate in projects to enhance finance performance. Respond to and develop KPIs.
  • Training and Support: Train and support Finance Managers in International Country Programs.

Qualifications, Experience & Technical Competencies

  • University degree in business administration, accounting, or equivalent relevant education.
  • 5+ years of experience working in finance within an NGO and/or large complex organization.
  • Working level of English; proficiency in French is desirable.
  • Proven skills in data analysis, financial reporting, presentations, problem-solving, and detailed administration.
  • High computer literacy, especially in Microsoft Office (Excel).
