Summary

The Novartis Strategy & Growth, Therapeutic Area Strategy team for Oncology & Hematology is seeking a new Executive Director, Therapeutic Area Strategy. This position will support the creation and update of a holistic Therapeutic Area (TA) strategy, provide early-phase commercial insights to project teams, guide TA-specific internal pipeline development and external licensing/acquisition opportunities, and support integrated enterprise alignment across Biomedical Research (BR), Development, Strategy & Growth (S&G), and the Commercial US and International units.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the TA Strategy Head in developing a comprehensive Novartis TA strategy that promotes sustainable growth both in the short and long term.
  • Utilize knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and core Therapeutic Areas, particularly Oncology & Hematology, to establish competitive advantages.
  • Deliver key commercial insights to the R&D project teams, with a critical focus on early-phase programs and in-market experience in the US.
  • Analyze reports and publications to extract valuable insights, building product forecasts.
  • Support the identification of growth opportunities and emerging competitive challenges with targeted primary research and external insights.

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (PhD, MD, or other equivalent) in life sciences/healthcare preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of Therapeutic Areas, especially Oncology and/or Hematology, with a proven ability to rapidly acquire expertise.
  • Experience in evaluating new product opportunities through M&A, BD&L, and internal research programs.
  • 7-10 years of industry experience in Pharmaceuticals and/or medical devices, including R&D and commercial functions.
  • Recent local US in-market experience post-2015, with a focus on interaction within the US healthcare system.

Salary Range: CHF 169,400.00 - CHF 314,600.00
