Are you a systems architect or senior engineer with experience building the digital backbone of a manufacturing or high-tech company, ready to take full ownership? At Lightium, we are pioneering next-generation photonic integrated circuits (PICs) based on thin-film lithium niobate (TFLN). We are looking for an Enterprise Data & Systems Architect to serve as the technical backbone of our data platform and enterprise systems.

Position Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Enterprise Data & Systems Architect to take charge of the technical architecture for our data infrastructure, automation, and digital systems. This role includes overseeing database architecture, data warehouses, PLM, ERP, and MES systems, as well as test automation, while supporting both R&D and a growing production flow. As part of the Operations team, you will drive the data and systems strategy, ensuring integration between tools and maintaining a coherent infrastructure as we scale from pilot to volume production. You will also be responsible for managing and mentoring a small team of specialists, including DevOps, Data Scientists, and Automation Engineers.

Key Responsibilities

• Enterprise Systems Architecture & Strategy: Own the architecture and roadmap for Lightium’s data platform, ensuring that decisions across all systems support business needs and data traceability.
• Data & Analytics Platform: Design, build, and operate complex databases and data pipelines, ensuring high-quality data at scale for analytics and reporting.
• Data Security, Governance & Compliance: Manage IT data security, access control, and compliance, aligning the systems landscape with relevant standards.
• Enterprise Systems & Product Lifecycle: Own the implementation and integration of PLM and ERP systems, ensuring product and document lifecycle traceability.
• MES Selection & Implementation: Scout for a suitable MES platform for both R&D and production, and lead its implementation and integration.
• Test Automation & Tool Integration: Drive automated testing software architecture and maintain seamless data exchange between tools and systems.
• Infrastructure, Vendors & Continuous Improvement: Oversee core infrastructure reliability and security while managing vendor contracts and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Technical Guidance & Mentorship: Provide leadership and mentorship to your team, shaping best practices across the engineering community.

What You’ll Bring

• Educational Background: A degree in computer science, engineering, physics, or a related field, with a strong track record in enterprise or solutions architecture.
• Technical Expertise: Hands-on experience with PLM and ERP systems, database and data modeling, and familiarity with cloud and on-prem infrastructure.
• Mindset: A pragmatic approach to problem-solving, strong people-leadership skills, and excellent communication abilities.
• Languages: Fluency in English is required; German or French is a plus.
