Join Our Team at Lightium

Lightium is at the forefront of developing next-generation photonic integrated circuits on thin-film lithium niobate (TFLN). As we scale our operations, we seek a dedicated individual to oversee the daily management and enhancement of the systems that drive our engineering and operations. From cloud infrastructure to enterprise platform integrations, your expertise will ensure our internal processes run smoothly and efficiently.

Position Summary

This is a hands-on, execution-focused role primarily centered around backend development and infrastructure management. You will be instrumental in making our systems work seamlessly, maintaining them, and driving continuous improvements. We are looking for a candidate who is comfortable spinning up cloud environments, writing Python integration scripts, and exploring LLM-based tools to automate workflows. If you have a strong desire to build impactful solutions in a dynamic setting, this is the opportunity for you.

Responsibilities

DevOps & Cloud Infrastructure

  • Manage and maintain cloud infrastructure on AWS and/or GCP, covering compute, storage, and networking.
  • Build, maintain, and enhance CI/CD pipelines for dependable deployments of internal software and tooling.
  • Implement infrastructure-as-code practices for version-controlled and reproducible environments.
  • Monitor system health, cybersecurity, and access control, ensuring efficient incident response and preventive measures.
  • Oversee development and production environments, enforcing effective promotion and deployment workflows.

Enterprise Systems Support & Integration

  • Support day-to-day operations and configuration of Lightium’s enterprise platforms: Aras Innovator (PLM), Oracle NetSuite (ERP), and MES.
  • Manage and scale corporate IT infrastructure by selecting and implementing network hardware and servers.
  • Develop and maintain integration pipelines and API connectors (in Python, C#, etc.) for seamless data movement between systems.
  • Assist with the rollout and onboarding of new platform features and system updates.
  • Craft custom Aras Innovator workflows, server-side methods, and client-side scripts (in C# and JavaScript) to support traceability from simulation to performance measurement.

AI Agents & Productivity Enhancement

  • Create LLM-powered tools to automate business workflows.
  • Stay updated on the evolving AI agents landscape, proposing impactful tools to enhance Lightium’s operations.
  • Collaborate with the data and engineering teams to scope, prototype, and implement AI-assisted solutions.

Documentation & Process Hygiene

  • Keep documentation current for systems, pipelines, integrations, and deployment procedures.
  • Define and adhere to standard operating procedures for operational tasks to ensure consistency.
  • Communicate effectively with the team regarding system status, outages, and ongoing work.

What You’ll Bring

Experience and Skills

  • A recent graduate or experienced engineer with a degree in computer science, software engineering, IT, or a related field.
  • Proficient programming skills in at least two of the following: Python, JavaScript, C#, or SQL.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (preferably AWS or GCP) and familiarity with services like EC2, S3, IAM, Docker, Kubernetes, etc.
  • Some familiarity with CI/CD tooling and version control workflows.
  • Experience in semiconductor or industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with enterprise systems (ERP, PLM, MES).

Startup Mentality

  • A driven, results-oriented mindset with a passion for innovation and problem-solving. You take ownership and thrive on delivering results in a dynamic context.

Communication

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Fluency in English is essential.

What We Offer

  • A competitive compensation and benefits package, including an employee stock option plan (ESOP) and fully-covered Pillar Two.
  • An opportunity to lead a pioneering manufacturing initiative in the rapidly expanding field of photonics.
  • A collaborative and innovative work environment where your contributions will shape the future of telecommunications and datacom.
  • Become a key player in an early-phase startup and join a motivated, energetic team. You will have the chance to grow and develop your professional skills rapidly.
