Enterprise Data & Systems Architect / Enterprise Data & Systems Architectess

Lightium AG Schlieren September 19, 2026

Join Lightium as an Enterprise Data & Systems Architect

Are you a systems architect or senior engineer who has laid the digital foundation of a manufacturing or high-tech company, ready to take full ownership? At Lightium, we are revolutionizing the field with next-generation photonic integrated circuits (PICs) based on thin-film lithium niobate (TFLN). We are actively seeking an Enterprise Data & Systems Architect to serve as the technical backbone of our data platform and enterprise systems.

Position Summary

We are looking for a hands-on Enterprise Data & Systems Architect to oversee the technical architecture of our data infrastructure, automation, and digital systems. This role encompasses database architecture, data warehousing, PLM, ERP, and MES systems, along with test automation that supports both R&D and our expanding production processes. As a crucial part of the Operations team, you will spearhead the data and systems strategy, maintain the integration between tools and data infrastructure, and ensure coherence and efficiency as we transition from pilot to volume production. Additionally, you will manage and mentor a specialized team comprising DevOps, Data Scientists, and Automation Engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enterprise Systems Architecture & Strategy: Own and develop the architecture and roadmap for Lightium’s data platform, enterprise systems, and supporting infrastructure. Ensure cohesive decision-making across data warehouse, PLM, ERP, MES, and HW/SW solutions to translate manufacturing and business needs into a pragmatic systems strategy that ensures data traceability throughout the organization.
  • Data & Analytics Platform: Lead the architecture of databases and data warehouses, scaling to support increasing production volumes. Design and operate the necessary databases, data pipelines, transformation processes, and lakehouse environment on a modern data stack.
  • Data Security, Governance & Compliance: Manage IT and data security across the platform with stringent access control, data encryption, and compliance with ISO standards and export-control regulations.
  • Enterprise Systems & Product Lifecycle: Oversee the implementation and integration of PLM (Aras Innovator) and ERP (Oracle NetSuite) systems, ensuring end-to-end traceability and consistency of master data.
  • MES Selection & Implementation: Identify and evaluate potential Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) that cater to both R&D and production needs, and manage the vendor selection and subsequent implementation process.
  • Test Automation & Tool Integration: Direct the development of automated wafer-scale test software built on OpenTAP, and establish reliable data-exchange protocols among all systems involved.
  • Infrastructure, Vendors & Continuous Improvement: Ensure the reliability and security of core infrastructure while managing projects and partnerships with external IT vendors.
  • Technical Guidance & Mentorship: Serve as the technical authority for the engineering community, setting standards and best practices while providing mentorship to a team of specialists.

What You'll Bring

  • Educational Background: A degree in computer science, engineering, physics, or a related field, with extensive experience in enterprise or solutions architecture, preferably within a manufacturing or semiconductor environment.
  • Technical Expertise: Proven experience with PLM and ERP systems, as well as a strong foundation in database architecture, data pipelines, and modern data platforms.
  • Mindset: A pragmatic and hands-on approach to problem-solving, with a knack for leading and mentoring technical teams.
  • Languages: Fluency in English; proficiency in German or French is a plus.

What We Offer

  • Competitive compensation and benefits package, including an employee stock option plan (ESOP) and generous vacation time.
  • A unique opportunity to lead a cutting-edge manufacturing initiative within the burgeoning field of photonics.
  • A collaborative and innovative work environment where your contributions will shape the future of telecommunications and datacom.
