Job Title: Senior Engineering Manager – Platform & Hardware Engineering
We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineering Manager – Platform & Hardware Engineering to lead strategic hardware platform initiatives across multiple business units. In this role, you will drive the adoption of standardized hardware platforms, oversee component risk reduction programs, and establish engineering best practices that improve scalability, quality, manufacturability, and cost efficiency.
You will collaborate closely with engineering teams, procurement, manufacturing partners, and senior stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of hardware platform strategies while fostering innovation, technical excellence, and talent development across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Hardware Platform Strategy & Delivery
- Lead the development and deployment of standardized MCU/MPU hardware platforms across business units.
- Own end-to-end platform delivery, including design validation, manufacturing readiness, and production release.
- Drive hardware platform sustainability by aligning hardware, software, test systems, and manufacturing requirements.
- Manage strategic chip platform initiatives, including roadmap execution, stakeholder alignment, and supplier coordination.
- Ensure successful release of hardware platforms such as SMARC and System-on-Module (SoM) solutions.
Component Risk Management & Supply Chain Optimization
- Lead component lifecycle management and risk mitigation activities.
- Drive supplier part reduction and component rationalization programs.
- Identify and qualify alternative components to reduce single-source dependencies.
- Partner with Procurement and suppliers to maintain component availability and long-term sustainability.
- Establish governance processes, documentation standards, and reporting mechanisms for component management initiatives.
Design for Excellence (DFX) & Standardization
- Lead Design for Excellence (DFX) initiatives focused on manufacturability, quality, reliability, and cost optimization.
- Promote standardized hardware architectures, reusable design blocks, and common engineering frameworks.
- Support the expansion of engineering libraries, design standards, and platform-based development.
- Identify and evaluate new platform opportunities aligned with strategic business objectives.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Serve as the primary technical interface between Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, and external partners.
- Lead cross-functional program reviews, workshops, and design review sessions.
- Develop business cases and recommendations to drive organizational alignment and adoption of platform strategies.
- Ensure engineering deliverables meet quality, timeline, and cost objectives.
Innovation & Team Development
- Foster a culture of innovation through technology initiatives, idea generation, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Mentor and develop engineering talent, supporting both technical and leadership growth.
- Coordinate training programs and professional development activities.
- Encourage participation in innovation programs, invention disclosures, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support employee engagement and organizational health initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) is an advantage.
- Extensive experience in hardware platform engineering, embedded systems, or product development.
- Proven success in leading complex cross-functional engineering programs.
- Strong knowledge of MCU/MPU architectures, PCB development, and embedded hardware systems.
- Experience with component lifecycle management, BOM analysis, supplier management, and risk mitigation.
- Strong understanding of Design for Excellence (DFX) principles and engineering standardization.
- Experience in program and project management.
- PMP, PMI-RMP, Scrum, Product Owner, or related certifications are advantageous.
