EI&C Software Application Engineer – 7112

We are seeking an experienced EI&C Software Application Engineer for our client, an international company operating in a highly regulated industrial environment. This role focuses on supporting the development, integration, maintenance, and qualification of software applications utilized in manufacturing and automation settings.

The successful candidate will collaborate across multiple disciplines including Software Engineering, Automation, Manufacturing, IT, and Quality, contributing to the reliability and continuous improvement of systems that underpin production activities. This is a 100% site-based position in Visp, offered initially for 12 months, with the possibility of extension.

Responsibilities

• Develop, configure, maintain, and enhance software applications supporting manufacturing and automation processes.
• Design, implement, and integrate solutions connected to DCS, MES, historians, databases, and other manufacturing systems.
• Develop software and scripting solutions utilizing technologies such as C#, SQL, PowerShell, and VBA.
• Support interfaces and data exchanges between OT and IT systems.
• Prepare software design specifications, functional specifications, technical documentation, and other engineering deliverables.
• Perform software testing, commissioning, qualification, and deployment activities.
• Troubleshoot software and system issues and participate in root cause investigations.
• Maintain and improve existing applications to ensure their reliability, performance, and usability.
• Collaborate closely with Automation, Manufacturing, Validation, Quality, and IT teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support software lifecycle management, change management, and version control activities.
• Ensure compliance of solutions with applicable GMP, data integrity, cybersecurity, and company requirements.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
• Solid IT background with practical knowledge of software development, databases, networking, and system integration.
• Professional experience with automation and/or manufacturing systems, such as DCS, MES, historians, or similar platforms.
• Hands-on programming or scripting experience with several of the following: C#, SQL, PowerShell, VBA.
• Experience with software application lifecycle management and application support.
• Previous experience working in a GMP-regulated environment.
• Good understanding of software testing, troubleshooting, and system integration.
• Experience in creating technical and/or GxP-compliant documentation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Fluency in English and/or German.
