Open Call for Computational Scientists and Mathematical Modelers

The Foundation for Research on Information Technologies in Society (IT’IS), an independent nonprofit research organization closely associated with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich, is excited to announce new opportunities for talented and experienced professionals.

IT’IS collaborates with partner organizations Schmid & Partner Engineering AG (SPEAG), ZMT Zurich MedTech AG (ZMT), and TI Solutions AG (TI Solutions) to form the Zurich43 alliance. Together, we are dedicated to expanding knowledge and technology in the following areas:

  • Characterization, optimization, and application of the electromagnetic (EM) near-field
  • Predictive modeling of interactions between physical agents and physiology in complex anatomies
  • Medical applications

Your Challenges:

  • Developing novel algorithms and solutions for next-generation applications in computational physics.
  • Maintaining and enhancing our high-performance simulation platforms, including CAD modeling, numerical solvers in electrodynamics, neuronal dynamics, as well as data postprocessing and visualization.
  • Participating in all stages of product development, from feature design to production-level implementation.

Your Strengths:

  • University or technical college degree (Bachelor, Master, or PhD) in Information Technology, Computer Sciences, or equivalent knowledge.
  • Outstanding proficiency in C++ (STL, object-oriented design patterns, multi-threading) and experience in writing production-quality C++ code.
  • Excellent knowledge of algorithms and numerics.
  • Strong expertise in high-performance computing programming models, especially for GPGPUs (CUDA, OpenCL); experience with OpenMP, MPI, cross-platform applications, or user interface development is desirable.
  • Experience in electrodynamic simulations, particularly with medical technology industry applications, is a strong advantage.
  • Passion for designing high-quality, user-friendly, and reliable software.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and commitment to the highest quality standards of work.
  • Self-motivation, good organizational and communication skills, impeccable attention to detail, and a friendly personality with team spirit.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, work independently in a fast-paced setting, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Commitment to effectively responding to the needs of partners and customers.
  • Proficiency in English (both written and spoken); the ability to communicate in German is a plus.

Our Offer:

  • A vibrant, multicultural, and innovative work environment that drives key technologies and fosters diversity and inclusion.
  • Access to state-of-the-art laboratories, high-performance computing clusters, and production facilities.
  • A creative mix of global talents across the fields of physics, electronics, mathematics, biology, and more, all striving for excellence and high ethical standards.
  • Flexible working hours at a workplace in the heart of Zurich.
