Client Overview

Our client is a leading global player in the Pharmaceutical industry with global headquarters in Basel, Switzerland. They are undergoing a transformation with respect to culture and external perception. The organization focuses on novel therapies in Oncology and Ophthalmology, and is currently developing a world-class pipeline in Neuroscience and Dermatology, boasting one of the strongest pipelines of Phase II/III studies globally.

Position: Clinical Research Scientist/Coordinator

This is a 1-year contract position, with the possibility of extension, based in Basel.

Job Purpose

The Clinical Research Scientist/Coordinator will serve as a Study Leader and/or Clinical Scientist for predominantly low complexity global studies and may also provide additional Clinical Sciences support for high complexity global studies.

Major Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Lead or support the clinical protocol development process in collaboration with the Medical Lead and other line functions; serve as the responsible author for clinical protocols, amendments, and contribute to the development of clinical sections of study-level regulatory documents.
  • Support the development of strategic and scientific input into study concepts, feasibility, and execution; implement study-level operational execution plans in partnership with key cross-functional partners.
  • Collaborate with key partners to identify and select strategic and high-performing sites to meet recruitment commitments.
  • Lead or support global cross-functional Clinical Trial Teams (CTT) to ensure all trial deliverables are met; set stretch goals, promote realistic planning and timelines, and present actionable alternatives to accelerate timelines.
  • Partner with line functions to manage internal and external stakeholder expectations and ensure alignment.
  • Conduct ongoing medical/scientific review of clinical trial data in collaboration with medical experts, focusing on safety trend analysis and reporting clinical study results.
  • Prepare and support dose escalation meetings with investigators, ensuring the availability of quality clinical trial data for reviews.
  • Proactively lead risk mitigation discussions and implement risk management strategies at the trial level.
  • Forecast and manage overall study budgets collaboratively with key partners.
  • Develop vendor strategies and timelines for assigned studies.
  • Implement best practices and standards for trial management; represent the group on initiatives and serve as a Subject Matter Expert when necessary.

Qualifications & Key Competencies

  • Relevant working/residency permit or Swiss/EU citizenship required.
  • Bachelor's degree in life science/healthcare required; advanced degree preferred (PhD/MD/PharmD/Masters).
  • Approximately 2+ years of experience in clinical trials/development.
  • Strong understanding of oncology/hematology with high learning agility.
  • Ability to drive collaborations through unpredictable circumstances.
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills for building effective relationships.
  • Willingness to adapt and challenge the status quo in ambiguous situations.
  • Commitment to a diverse and inclusive work culture.
  • Proficiency in clinical trial methodology with a focus on early clinical development.
  • Operational project management experience with strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in interpreting and discussing trial level data.
  • Understanding of clinical finance principles and ICH-GCP regulations.
  • Fluency in oral and written English.
