Position Overview

This is a hybrid role, requiring a minimum of 3 days per week on-site in the Midlands, offering a competitive salary and package. W Talent is supporting a well-established, multi-site organisation in the appointment of a Category Manager to join its central procurement function. The Role

In this position, you will play a key role in developing and delivering sourcing and category strategies across allocated spend categories. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing procurement activity from understanding business requirements and assessing market opportunities through to tender, negotiation, implementation, and supplier handover.
  • Collaborating closely with senior and operational colleagues across the organisation to ensure stakeholder satisfaction.

About You

We are looking for a commercially minded procurement professional with proven experience in indirect procurement. The ideal candidate will have exposure to structured tendering, supplier negotiations, and category planning. You will need to demonstrate:

  • Experience delivering sourcing projects and structured tender processes.
  • Experience in developing tender documentation, specifications, and KPIs.
  • Strong negotiation and commercial skills.
  • Experience managing multiple procurement projects against tight deadlines.
  • Understanding of contract negotiation and engagement with legal teams.
  • Experience using eProcurement and data analysis tools, including intermediate Excel proficiency.
  • A proactive approach to identifying new procurement opportunities.
  • CIPS Level 4 certification, or actively working towards it, is desirable.
