Job Opening: CAPEX Procurement Project Buyer - 6959

Our client, a global market leader in the production and process support of active pharmaceutical ingredients in both chemical and biotechnology sectors, is seeking a skilled CAPEX Procurement Project Buyer to be based in Visp, Switzerland. This role is initially for a 12-month contract, with high chances of extension.

The CAPEX Procurement Project Buyer for Civil, Structural, and Architectural (CSA) responsibilities include leading sourcing activities for Construction Services within capital investment projects. This role is essential for ensuring alignment between the company's business needs and supply market capabilities, driving cost optimization, supplier performance, and risk mitigation. Acting as a strategic partner to engineering and project teams, the individual in this position will play a vital role in delivering high-value procurement solutions that support the company's growth and operational excellence.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Run RFx and vendor selection processes during project execution and early phases.
  • Identify current and long-term needs of the company by fostering relationships with relevant collaborators to ensure Procurement activities effectively support business strategies.
  • Enhance and implement the category strategy for CSA to align supply market capabilities with business needs.
  • Ensure objectives, actions, and priorities are synchronized within Procurement and with Global Engineering and other relevant collaborators.
  • Collaborate closely with key stakeholders to develop cost reduction strategies and implementation plans that address project and business needs.
  • Provide proactive leadership and change management support that challenges traditional spending behaviors and enables productivity and efficiency improvements.
  • Lead supplier relationship management (SRM) and supplier development initiatives to ensure reliable supply and maximize supplier value.
  • Drive supplier performance, compliance, and accountability through scorecards and performance metrics.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for projects in case of customer concerns.
  • Address partner concerns and issues in collaboration with Contracts and Claims managers.
  • Develop supply risk management strategies and implement appropriate risk mitigation plans.
  • Collaborate with Project Procurement colleagues to ensure category strategies are effectively integrated into project execution plans.
  • Negotiate Construction Services Agreements and Framework Agreements with vendors.
  • Plan, lead, and conclude negotiations on commercial terms and contracts for framework, master, and other significant supply agreements.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant Swiss working/residency permit and/or Swiss/EU citizenship required.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree, preferably in Civil Engineering. A Master’s degree in Business Management is a plus.
  • Strong technical understanding and knowledge of Civil Engineering and Construction.
  • At least 10 years of experience in Procurement, with a minimum of 5 years in Category Management.
  • Experience in a regulated industry (e.g., pharmaceutical, food, cosmetics) is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing sourcing strategies that yield measurable business results.
  • Relevant category experience in CSA (Civil, Structural, Architectural).
  • Required licenses or certifications: CIPS.
  • Fluent in English with a minimum B2 level in German.
