Your New Role

As a Business Unit Director, you will spearhead the identification, development, and implementation of business opportunities that will enable Novo Nordisk Switzerland to strengthen its leadership in Rare Diseases. You will work to develop and maximize the potential of both employees and the organization while representing Novo Nordisk’s vision, values, and commitments.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic development and business planning for the Rare Disease unit, defining goals, strategies, budget, and identifying opportunities to enhance the Rare Disease sector in Switzerland.
  • Oversee marketing and launch activities for Rare Disease products, preparing comprehensive marketing plans, aligning investments with business strategy, and managing successful product launches.
  • Facilitate cross-functional alignment between medical and marketing teams, contribute to pricing and reimbursement proposals, and assess market research and competitive benchmarks.
  • Direct customer-facing efforts, manage CRM and territory management systems, conduct ROI evaluations, allocate budgets, and set realistic, motivating sales targets and incentive systems.
  • Lead and develop staff in alignment with ethical standards and company procedures, actively participating in management meetings and cross-functional project groups.

The Rare Disease team is part of a dynamic organization, consisting of highly skilled and ambitious professionals focused on results and dedicated to the business ethics and values of Novo Nordisk. As the Business Unit Director for Rare Disease, you will report to the General Manager of Switzerland and be an integral part of the affiliate leadership team.

Your Skills & Qualifications

You are a natural leader with a proven track record of ownership and accountability. A strong collaborator and communicator, you can drive conversations with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders. With an entrepreneurial mindset and a capacity for out-of-the-box thinking, you will bring the following qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive marketing experience in the pharmaceutical industry, including at least 3 years in people leadership.
  • A balanced commercial experience encompassing marketing, medical, field sales, as well as areas such as new product planning, commercial operations, and market research.
  • Expertise in the rare disease or specialty care environment is a significant advantage.
  • A growth and learning mindset, with enterprise-level leadership capabilities and a successful track record of leading product launches.
  • Self-driven, with the ability to inspire your team and colleagues through ambitious targets, clear goal settings, and rapid decision-making.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in science, healthcare, business, or a relevant field, fluency in Swiss German and English, and ideally French. An advanced degree (e.g., MBA) and additional global commercial experience are preferred.
