Position Overview

We are seeking a Biospecimen Senior Specialist for a 12-month contract (with a strong possibility for extension) based in the Zug area, Switzerland.

Position: Biospecimen Specialist – Biorepository Specialist – 7096

The Biospecimen Specialist will manage the end-to-end biorepository activities to fulfill customer specimen requests in compliance with local regulatory requirements, quality standards, and industry best practices. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, organized, and accountable team player with meticulous attention to detail. We are looking for a solution-driven individual who can maintain quality, accuracy, and timeliness of deliverables.

The Perfect Candidate

• Holds a degree in Life Sciences with practical experience in handling biological specimens and using validated tools such as LIMS.
• Has exceptional attention to detail, critical for maintaining biospecimen traceability, data accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
• Thrives in a fast-paced environment while managing end-to-end sample acquisition and project timelines.
• Possesses excellent communication skills in English (B2 minimum) for seamless collaboration with diverse internal and external stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities

• Manage and perform biological material processing, registration, shipment, returns, verification activities, retrievals, and inventory searches in a validated environment.
• Accountable for end-to-end project management and biorepository management activities to fulfill customer specimen requests.
• Collaborate with relevant permitting agencies and local Safety and Biorepository Teams to comply with permit requirements.
• Maintain compliance with BAM processes, including documentation collection and review of sample data to ensure accuracy.
• Respond appropriately to changing priorities, ensuring the accuracy, quality, and timeliness of work.
• Interface effectively with internal and external stakeholders to establish timelines and meet project goals.
• Maintain information in a validated laboratory information management system compliant with GxP principles and standards.

Qualifications and Experience

• Relevant Swiss working/residency permit or Swiss/EU Citizenship required.
• Life Science Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 1-3 years of relevant experience in sample acquisition, data management, biobanking, OR a Life Science Master’s degree with some experience in related areas.
• Experience in handling biological specimens; willingness to work with potentially infectious biological material.
• IT skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Google Suite; experience with LIMS or other validated systems.
• Strong English language skills (minimum B2).

• Ability to follow detailed standard procedures and a strong understanding of biospecimen traceability.
• Meticulous attention to detail; committed to the highest quality, accuracy, and timeliness of biospecimen deliverables.
• Efficient in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple projects.
• Strong interpersonal skills, proven ability to manage diverse internal and external stakeholders.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice to Have

• Experience in research, diagnostics, pharmaceutical, CRO, or medical device industries.
• Basic knowledge of German.
