Azure Data Architect - Microsoft Fabric | Remote EU | 6 Months + Extensions
We are seeking an experienced Azure Data Architect/Solution Architect with expertise in Microsoft Fabric to join a large-scale data and analytics program. This role focuses on Microsoft Fabric, Eventhouse, and Real-Time Intelligence (RTI), while leveraging strong hands-on experience with Azure Databricks and modern data engineering.
Your responsibilities will include working across architecture, technical delivery, and stakeholder engagement to design and implement scalable data platforms and modernize existing Azure data workloads into Microsoft Fabric.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and implementation of advanced analytics and data solutions using Microsoft Fabric and Azure Databricks.
- Design solutions across Fabric Pipelines, Lakehouse, Warehouse, Eventhouse, and Real-Time Intelligence.
- Support the migration of existing workloads such as Azure Synapse, Databricks, and Data Marts into Microsoft Fabric.
- Collaborate closely with senior business stakeholders, technical teams, and other IT functions to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Lead the development of data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes using Azure Databricks, PySpark, and Azure Data Factory.
- Integrate Databricks with ADLS Gen2, Azure Synapse, ADF, Power BI, and on-premise systems.
- Provide architectural and technical leadership to data engineering teams.
- Ensure solutions meet standards around security, governance, data quality, scalability, and performance.
- Document architectures, processes, data flows, and technical decisions.
- Troubleshoot and optimize high-volume data pipelines and SQL workloads.
- Promote modern CI/CD, Git, and cloud-native engineering practices.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to data engineers.
Essential Experience
- 6+ years' experience as a Solution/Data Architect delivering large-scale Azure data platforms.
- 8+ years of Azure engineering/data engineering experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Azure Databricks.
- Extensive project experience with Microsoft Fabric.
- Direct hands-on experience with Fabric Eventhouse and Real-Time Intelligence (RTI) is a key requirement.
- Experience with Fabric Lakehouse, Warehouse, and Pipelines.
- Experience in migrating or modernizing existing Synapse, Databricks, or Data Mart workloads into Fabric.
- Strong skills in PySpark, Spark, and Delta Lake.
- Proficient in SQL development and performance tuning.
- Experience with Azure Data Factory and ADLS Gen2.
- Familiarity with Delta tables, Auto Loader, and Delta Live Tables.
- Experience building scalable ETL/ELT pipelines, data lakes, and data warehouse solutions.
- Experience integrating Databricks with Synapse, ADLS Gen2, and Power BI.
- Strong understanding of cloud security, governance, access control, and data quality.
- Experience with CI/CD and Git.
- Strong client-facing and stakeholder management experience.
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts to senior non-technical stakeholders.
Microsoft Fabric Focus
The ideal candidates will possess genuine hands-on experience with:

While not required, a Microsoft Certified: Fabric Data Engineer Associate (DP-700) certification is highly desirable, particularly if supported by practical project experience.
