Job Opportunity: Application Engineer

We are seeking a talented Application Engineer to join our team in Lausanne, embracing a hybrid working model. In this pivotal role, you will work closely with business users, serving as the onsite counterpart to offshore engineers. Your expertise in SQL and Oracle will be central to our energy data management platform, shaping how data models, formulas, and calculations support business outcomes. The impact of your work directly influences operational efficiency and market responsiveness. Ensuring seamless integration, performance, and security for critical applications is essential, as reliable energy data management drives market stability and fosters regional growth.

Responsibilities

• Understand and navigate the data model using SQL while developing and maintaining the necessary formulas and calculations within the platform.
• Collaborate with development teams to design and implement effective technical solutions.
• Continuously enhance the application to align with evolving business and IT goals.
• Resolve user challenges with a solution-oriented mindset, supporting their needs efficiently.
• Ensure seamless integration of new functionalities into existing systems.
• Maintain high standards of application performance and security, implementing appropriate security measures.
• Independently develop solutions to address specific challenges.
• Work alongside development teams and business stakeholders to deliver technical solutions and improve application performance and security across both Run and Build activities.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in application development or engineering.
• Strong SQL skills (Oracle, PL/SQL) applied to application development, including the ability to read complex data models, write queries, and build formulas and calculation logic (this is not a database administration role).
• A solid grasp of business processes and technical requirements, coupled with a passion for delivering exceptional customer service.
• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent professional certification.
• Excellent communication skills in English.

Nice to Have

• Two years of experience in an agile IT environment.
• Proficiency in German and French languages.
• Experience with energy data management platforms.
