Job Description

As an Application Engineer, you will be responsible for the process-related commissioning of our advanced thin-film coating systems. Your role includes performing internal and external acceptances, training customers and service teams, and supporting process optimization. With your ideas and expertise, you will actively contribute to the further development of our technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring vacuum systems to ensure reliable operation and the production of required thin films.
  • Commissioning production systems from initial settings to final optimization after hardware checks.
  • Documenting internal tests (IAT) and accompanying final customer acceptance (FAT) on-site at customer facilities.
  • Advising customers and colleagues, sharing know-how, training the service team, and assisting with technical inquiries.
  • Testing new components, contributing ideas, and supporting documentation and process optimization.

Qualifications

  • Technical know-how: Degree in physics, materials science, microtechnology, mechanical engineering, or electrical engineering.
  • Experience or willingness to learn: Knowledge of vacuum technology and thin-film processes is preferred, or a strong motivation to learn PVD processes like sputtering and evaporation.
  • Hands-on mentality: Enjoy practical work, problem-solving, and finding creative solutions.
  • Communication & travel: Good command of English with a willingness to travel occasionally (approx. 15%).
  • Technical skills: Passion for tinkering, assembling, and fine-tuning technology.
