Summary

We are seeking an Analytical Project Leader to join our Analytical Research & Development (ARD) team at Novartis. ARD, positioned within the Technical R&D department, plays a critical role in the characterization and analysis of Drug Substances and Drug Products from the moment compounds leave the discovery laboratories until they are transferred to Commercial Production. About the Role

Main Accountabilities:

  • Join a global CMC subteam responsible for leading the technical development of Drug Substances and Drug Products throughout early to late-phase clinical development.
  • Manage analytical activities within a Technical CMC project team, defining control and specification-setting strategies for Drug Substances and Drug Products of small molecule new modalities (e.g., xRNAs).
  • Lead an analytical subteam, prepare project plans, and ensure that quality, timelines, and budgets are met for assigned projects.
  • Accurately forecast FTE and cost demands for your projects.
  • Ensure the timely issuance of analytical source documents, such as Specifications, Validation reports, and Stability reports.
  • Provide scientific inputs to analytical CMC documents and support regulatory submissions.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders in drug development and coach analytical experts.
  • Oversee outsourced analytical activities at CROs/CDMOs and manage external partnerships.

Ideal Background

  • Desirable: PhD in Analytical Chemistry or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry in analytical development as a project leader, preferably for sterile parenteral products. Experience in Oligonucleotide analytics is a plus.
  • Proven knowledge in early or late-phase parenteral development and filing.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in managing development projects, ideally within a global matrix environment.
  • Excellent understanding of regulatory guidelines for analytical development.
  • Highly motivated to work with new development compounds, with an emphasis on going the extra mile for success.
  • Broad scientific knowledge in chemistry, pharmaceutical, or analytical sciences, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to act as a role model.
  • Understanding of novel digital tools to enhance productivity in global project management.
  • Fluency in English (oral and written); German language skills are a plus.
