The Strategy and Analytics Team is dedicated to the systematic integration of sustainability and ethics into teaching and learning. Our goal is to empower students to competently address global challenges such as climate change, resource justice, and ethical decision-making, acting as 'change agents for a better tomorrow'. We proactively leverage data to inform our strategies, shaping the future of education at ETH Zurich.

As a student assistant, you will play a vital role in embedding sustainability and ethics into the educational framework at ETH Zurich through your organizational and content-related support.

Project Background

You will support an initiative aimed at promoting sustainability and ethics by assisting in the collection of teaching examples across ETH departments and partner universities (ENHANCE+) through qualitative interviews.

Job Description

Your primary responsibility will be to assist the project team in conducting interviews with members of the ETH community (e.g., lecturers, curriculum developers, student organizations). These interviews aim to gather best practices and gain a nuanced understanding of the expectations, challenges, and concerns surrounding sustainability and ethics in teaching.

Specific areas of support will include:

  • Providing administrative assistance for interviews (e.g., scheduling, collecting follow-up materials)
  • Assisting with the transcription and revision of interview transcripts (transforming interviews into ready-to-use examples for knowledge transfer)
  • Conducting literature research to support the development of additional teaching resources
  • Helping to organize workshops to engage the ETH community

Profile

  • You are a Bachelor's or Master's student at a Swiss university
  • You are motivated to help integrate sustainability and ethics into higher education
  • You are a reliable, efficient, and independent worker
  • You possess a positive 'can-do' attitude and enjoy providing feedback from a student perspective
  • You are proficient in MS Office
  • You have some experience in qualitative research through student assistant work, seminar papers, or theses
  • You have basic knowledge of interview transcription using Nvivo or similar software
  • You communicate confidently and precisely in English; proficiency in German is a plus
