Structural Analysis and Test Engineer / Structural Analysis and Test Engineeress

Anavia AG - April 21, 2026

About the Company:

ANAVIA specializes in the design, development, and manufacturing of vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) systems with a capacity of up to 500 kilograms. The company provides industry-leading unmanned helicopter systems tailored for various mission profiles, including Surveillance & Reconnaissance, Inspection, Mapping, and Cargo.

Position: Structural Analysis and Test Engineer

As a Structural Analysis and Test Engineer, you will be responsible for performing detailed finite element analysis (FEA) to evaluate the structural integrity of unmanned helicopter components. Your role will include conducting load and fatigue analyses, analyzing composite and metallic structures, executing structural testing, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless design and performance integration.

Your Main Tasks:

  • Structural Analysis and Simulation: Conduct detailed finite element analysis (FEA) using tools such as FEMAP, NASTRAN, and ANSYS to assess the structural integrity of unmanned helicopter components, including rotor heads, propulsion systems, composite structures, and landing gear.
  • Load and Fatigue Analysis: Execute static, dynamic, vibration, and fatigue analyses to evaluate performance under operational and extreme load conditions, assessing the impact of cyclic loads on rotating machinery and composite materials.
  • Composite and Metallic Structures: Analyze composite layups, bonding interfaces, and hybrid metal-composite structures, ensuring optimized strength-to-weight ratios while complying with aerospace standards.
  • Test and Correlation: Experience in developing and executing structural testing, including strain gauge instrumentation, accelerometers, and DAQ systems. Correlate test data with FEA predictions, refining models to enhance simulation accuracy.
  • Documentation: Prepare detailed engineering documentation, including design specifications, testing procedures, and maintenance manuals.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with electrical, aerodynamic, and software engineering teams to ensure integrated design and performance of unmanned helicopter systems.
  • Compliance Assurance: Ensure mechanical designs comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay informed about advancements in mechanical engineering and UAV technology, integrating best practices into analysis processes.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field, with at least three years of industry experience. A Doctoral degree may substitute for industry experience.
  • Experience: Proven experience in structural analysis, preferably within the manned helicopter industry. Expertise in either composite structures or rotating machinery is essential; hands-on experience with structural testing is desirable.
  • Skills: Strong understanding of finite element principles, materials science, and failure criteria. Proficiency in FEA software (ANSYS and Optistruct preferred) and simulation tools.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, high social skills, and strong analytical and technical understanding.
