About Us
FUN RIDE GmbH operates the Hopp E-Scooter sharing service across Switzerland. We manage a live fleet of connected, smart e-scooters, providing sustainable mobility solutions. Our operations combine advanced IoT, field diagnostics, and real-time fleet optimization to enhance user experience and operational efficiency.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Specialized Micromobility Fleet Operations & Diagnostics Technician. This role requires a unique blend of field-operations expertise, enabling the creation of new hotspots to enhance service usage and coverage. The technician will engage in station adjustments, perform preventive damage diagnostics, and conduct hands-on mechanical repairs of e-scooters within a shared mobility environment.
This hybrid position necessitates a profound understanding of shared e-scooter fleet behavior, in-field repairs, early damage detection, and the creation of manual hotspots driven by rider flow and environmental patterns.
Key Responsibilities
- Fleet Rebalancing & Hotspot Creation:
- Perform daily and advanced rebalancing across micro-zones based on demand and heatmaps, local terrain, and weather conditions. Maintain the fleet's battery percentage above 90% daily and availability above 95%.
- Create and optimize hotspot zones independently using field observations and operational patterns to effectively respond to observed rider flow.
- Optimize distribution routes manually without relying exclusively on automated tools, identifying and reducing "dead zones" and areas with low availability.
- Preventive Damage Diagnostics:
- Detect early-stage mechanical and structural wear, including stem play, deck micro-fractures, brake tension, and vibration anomalies.
- Identify damage progression resulting from misuse, vandalism, or environmental factors.
- Document and evaluate repair-prevention opportunities to minimize downtime.
- Conduct real-time health checks during field operations.
- In-Field Mechanical & Electronic Repairs:
- Conduct mobile repairs on mechanical, electrical, and IoT components without relying on workshop equipment.
- Diagnose controller, harness, and sensor anomalies on-site.
- Ensure a quick return of units to service with minimal downtime.
- Training:
- Train junior team members in micromobility-specific repair and diagnostic processes.
Required Experience
To qualify, candidates must have:
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in a shared e-scooter fleet environment.
- Experience with real-time diagnostics and field-based hotspot creation, considering factors such as peak hours, weather, and significant local events. A strong understanding of pedestrian flow and safety regulations is essential to avoid obstructions.
- Capability to perform in-field mechanical and electronic repairs on shared micromobility vehicles.
- Proficiency in diagnosing early-stage structural and mechanical failures typically found in shared scooter fleets.
- Knowledge of various e-scooter models and their hardware.
- Experience maintaining high fleet uptime and availability KPIs.
- Willingness to work different shifts, including weekends.
Qualifications
Vocational training in a technical field (mechanics, electronics, mechatronics) or equivalent practical experience in shared micromobility operations is required.
Languages
Proficiency in English for effective internal communication and use of digital tools.
