The Opportunity

We are excited to invite applications for the role of Software Solution Engineer within our Information Technology Department, specifically the Software Architecture team focused on product R&D. This is an opportunity to contribute to technologies that support groundbreaking scientific discoveries and help shape the future of biotechnology and healthcare.

As a member of our Software Architecture team, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, verifying, and managing the lifecycle of software solutions for innovative medical and biotechnological devices. Your contributions will directly impact our success and future growth as you collaborate closely with experts from various disciplines.

In this role, you will be accountable for the design, development, verification, and lifecycle management of our Lucullus software platform, which connects and controls lab devices and bioreactors, acquires and stores process data, and supports experiment planning and analysis.

What You Will Do

• Design and refine the architecture of the Lucullus platform, including modules, APIs, data models, and integration layers while documenting key decisions.
• Implement key components, dedicating approximately 50% of your time to hands-on design and coding.
• Own non-functional requirements such as performance, reliability, scalability, security, and maintainability.
• Prototype and evaluate new technologies prior to product adoption.
• Create, review, and maintain technical documentation, including specifications and design descriptions.
• Support requirements management, risk management, and compliance activities in alignment with applicable standards and quality requirements.
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams across Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Manufacturing, and Product Management.

Your Profile

• Completed studies in Engineering, preferably in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Information Technology.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in software development.
• Strong expertise in software development, particularly in enterprise-grade applications.
• Ability to collaborate effectively, translating architectural decisions into technical solutions across teams.
• Strong problem-solving skills to navigate complexity within a large technical stack.
• Experience mentoring engineers and driving technical decisions through design and code reviews.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD tools, and automation frameworks.
• Proficiency in Linux environments, particularly with LTS distributions and Oracle Linux (preferred but open to alternatives).
• Interest in Medtech/Biotech and an awareness of the regulated environment.
• Experience working with enterprise databases, especially Oracle DB and PostgreSQL.
• Solid understanding of security best practices, compliance, and secure coding methodologies.

This position is based at Securecell AG headquarters in Urdorf (Zurich), Switzerland. Reporting to: Head of Software.
