About the Fondation Campus Biotech Geneva
The Fondation Campus Biotech Geneva (FCBG) is a non-profit organization established by the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), the University of Geneva (UNIGE), and the Canton of Geneva. Our primary mission is to manage the research infrastructure and shared technology platforms at Campus Biotech, while actively supporting academic research groups (UNIGE, EPFL, HUG), the Wyss Center for Bio and Neuro Engineering, and start-ups located on-site. FCBG serves as a catalyst for translational research, bridging the gap between basic science and tangible solutions for human health.
Position Overview
This position is linked to three essential service platforms: the M/EEG & Neuromodulation Platform (MEEG), the Clinical and Sleep Research (CSR) Platform, and the Virtual Reality and Digital Engineering Platform (VRD). Together, these platforms offer cutting-edge resources for conducting advanced research in neuroscience, clinical studies, and digital engineering applications.
Job Description & Scope
We aim to recruit a versatile engineer to cover the comprehensive scope of two distinct projects outlined below. You may choose to apply for only one of the two assignments; in that case, the activity rate will be appropriately adjusted.
Note that we are looking for a candidate who is ready to start immediately.
Mission 1: Neuroscience Research Support & Data Analytics (60%)
The engineer will collaborate with a dedicated team of engineers and PhDs focused on EEG, MEG, and neuromodulation research. In this role, you will serve as a key technical consultant for various research groups, aiding them in selecting suitable hardware and implementing advanced experimental protocols. Responsibilities will include:
- Designing and optimizing data processing pipelines to facilitate efficient analysis of complex neural datasets.
- Managing approximately three to four diverse projects annually, allowing for a deep and varied impact on the neuroscience community.
- Engaging in collaborations ranging from short-term technical interventions to multi-year research programs.
Mission 2: System Development & Video Behavioral Analysis Service (40%)
This mission involves leading the development of a new service featuring specialized recording rooms equipped with synchronized cameras for analyzing video-recorded movements in both healthy individuals and patients. Key responsibilities include:
- Taking ownership of internally developed C++ software for the acquisition and synchronization of camera streams and audio feeds.
- Documenting, debugging, and enhancing the existing codebase to ensure robustness and reliability.
- Designing and implementing advanced analysis pipelines to characterize human behavior through body movements and facial expressions.
- Integrating and leveraging existing tools within the Campus Biotech community to enhance accessibility to scientific insights.
- Contributing to service growth by organizing community events and demonstrations to promote this new service.
