Gramazio Kohler Research, the Chair of Architecture and Digital Fabrication at the Institute of Technology in Architecture, operates at the forefront of architectural design and production enabled through digital manufacturing techniques. Our infrastructure includes the Robotic Fabrication Laboratory (RFL), a unique digital construction environment that facilitates world-class research in the field of robotic fabrication in architecture and construction.
We are seeking a highly skilled software engineer to focus on the development of Python libraries for research in architecture and timber construction, based on the open-source COMPAS framework developed by ETH Zurich. You will be responsible for software development and integration across different CAD packages (including Autodesk Revit, Archicad, and cadwork3d) and will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of software engineers, architects, and computer scientists.
Your projects will include multi-disciplinary collaborations with timber construction companies, spanning a broad spectrum of exciting tasks.
You should possess a degree in Computer Science or a related field along with several years of experience as a software engineer. Proficiency in multiple programming languages, especially Python, is essential. Experience with plugin systems is advantageous, and familiarity with continuous integration pipelines is a plus. Fluency in English and a passion for working in an international, diverse, and interdisciplinary team are also required.
The position is available as soon as possible and is initially for one year, with the possibility of renewal.
