Our Mission
At our Grid Automation business unit, we offer a comprehensive portfolio of solutions, ranging from substation automation and communication networks to grid automation services and enterprise software solutions. Our offerings are designed to meet the needs of all key segments of the energy system, including generation, transmission, distribution, industries, transportation, and infrastructure sectors.
The Opportunity
To enhance our Engineering team, we are seeking an experienced Senior System Engineer (SCADA) to support complex projects in substation automation for high- and medium-voltage installations. In this pivotal role, you will blend strong technical expertise with project responsibility and a customer-focused approach. You will develop innovative automation solutions, coordinate technical interfaces, and guide projects from concept through engineering and testing to successful commissioning. We look forward to receiving your application if you wish to contribute your expertise in an international environment and help shape the future of intelligent power grids.
Your Responsibilities
- Design and implement SCADA systems for high- and medium-voltage substations, utilizing IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-104/-101/-103, Modbus, DNP, OPC, and other relevant communication protocols.
- Develop system and network architectures while integrating RTU, gateway, protection, and automation systems into complex plant environments.
- Configure Ethernet-based communication networks and implement project-specific functionalities and software applications.

- Support commissioning activities and service interventions at customer sites, primarily in Switzerland, troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues.
- Take technical ownership within projects and advise customers on optimal automation and communication solutions.
- Collaborate closely with project management, sales, suppliers, and internal engineering teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Prepare technical specifications, system and network concepts, test documentation, as well as operation and training manuals.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering standards, processes, and best practices in substation automation.
Your Background
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a comparable technical qualification.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in power automation, substation automation, SCADA, or RTU systems.
- Strong knowledge of industrial communication protocols, network architectures, and cybersecurity within critical infrastructure environments.
- Experience with IEC 61850-based systems and the integration of protection, control, and automation systems.
- Familiarity with MicroSCADA, RTU500, or IET600 is a plus.
- Experience in technical project coordination, customer consulting, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), commissioning, and/or customer training.
- Independent, structured, and solution-oriented working style along with strong communication, coordination, and troubleshooting abilities.
