Senior Spacecraft Engineer / Senior Spacecraft Engineeress

Darwin Recruitment August 25, 2026

Senior Spacecraft Integration & Test Engineer

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior ATLO Engineer to fill a player-coach role overseeing assembly, integration, and environmental testing for a growing line of small satellites. This position will involve a blend of hands-on work in a cleanroom environment and leading a team across multiple concurrent programs.

If you have experience building spacecraft across several programs, desire a role that keeps you engaged with hardware, and wish to significantly influence team operations in a fast-paced, high-production setting, this opportunity is tailor-made for you.

The Role

In this position, approximately 40% of your time will be devoted to direct hardware integration and testing. You will work in the cleanroom on assembly, troubleshooting, and environmental campaigns, including EMI/EMC, dynamics, and TVAC. The remaining time will be spent in a leadership capacity, guiding and shaping the efforts of the wider ATLO team across multiple active programs.

You will serve as a signature authority on assembly and test procedures, contribute to early design and proposal initiatives to enhance manufacturability, and collaborate closely with programs, engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams. This role balances individual contribution and leadership, offering you genuine input into how various satellite programs are built and delivered.

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical or scientific field with 5 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Hands-on experience building and integrating spacecraft for at least two to three different programs (satellite, rover, lunar, or similar platforms that operate in space; launch vehicle experience is not applicable).
  • Background in mechanical or electrical integration, test engineering, or spacecraft integration within aerospace, automotive, or commercial production environments.
  • Comfort in working in a cleanroom environment and on a rotating shift pattern, with occasional travel to test or launch sites.
  • US Person status required.

What Sets Candidates Apart

  • 7 or more years of experience specifically in space systems, particularly in satellite or spacecraft integration.
  • Experience supporting multiple programs concurrently in a high-production small satellite environment.
  • Experience in writing work instructions and test procedures for critical aerospace hardware.
  • Familiarity with hardware integration tools such as NI LabVIEW, DAQ hardware, power supplies, and signal analyzers.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance, providing access to additional high-level programs.
