Your Role and Impact

As a Data Architect in our AI & Data team, you will guide senior clients in making informed architectural decisions and lead the design and implementation of innovative, enterprise-wide solutions.

You will have the opportunity to make a significant impact in the following areas:

• Lead Enterprise Data Architecture Design: Assist clients in modernizing complex system landscapes that require integration across multiple solutions (e.g., MDM, CRM, ERP, Cloud DWH). Collaborate with senior client stakeholders to design enterprise-level architecture and enforce pragmatic architecture standards while planning for their modernization journey.
• Lead Cloud Data Platform Design & Implementation: Support clients in building scalable, high-performance Cloud data platforms tailored to their business needs. Your responsibilities will encompass data modeling, integration, transformation pipelines, DevOps, and leveraging AI for platform optimization.
• Architect Integrated Solutions: Design and build necessary integrations to support business processes and data product delivery, including connections between Cloud data platforms and AI/Gen AI platforms, or between MDM/CRM systems and Cloud data platforms.
• Strengthen Market Positioning: Enhance our architectural footprint in the market through events, conferences, and discussions with key clients, internal teams, and alliance partners.
• Develop Internal Expertise: Mentor junior team members within AI & Data and set strategic priorities for knowledge building in Switzerland and coordination with near- and offshore teams.

What We Are Looking For

Experience:

• A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience as a Data Architect, with a background in leading teams that design and implement complex cloud-based ecosystems.
• An engineering background and at least one hands-on data platform implementation experience as a data engineer (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Databricks, Snowflake).
• Experience in evaluating and influencing data architecture decisions, guiding business and IT stakeholders.
• A proven track record in mentoring data engineers on coding best practices, familiar with coding quality tools such as SonarQube and AI coding assistants.
• Broad experience across different types of databases, including structured, semi-structured, and graph-based models.
• Nice to have: Experience with Infrastructure as Code using tools like Terraform.

Leadership, Commercial Acumen, and Communication Skills:

• A strong client-facing presence, capable of connecting with various senior stakeholders, fostering relationships, and converting opportunities into projects.
• Exceptional abstract reasoning skills to understand enterprise-level, solution-level, and operational concepts and their interconnections.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to articulate viewpoints clearly to technical and business stakeholders.
• Proven leadership abilities, partnering with external stakeholders, estimating and planning work, and coaching team members for optimal client outcomes.

Technical Expertise:

• Strong skills in modeling methods with experience or certifications from DAMA, TOGAF, or equivalent.
• Expertise in designing conceptual, logical, and physical data models, dimensional modeling, and data vault modeling.
• Proficiency in designing normalized and denormalized schemas for analytical and operational workloads.
• Hands-on experience designing and implementing solutions on major cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, and Azure.
• Expertise in architecting modern data platforms (Lakehouse, Medallion, Lambda, event-driven) with Snowflake and/or Databricks.
• Experience in creating architecture blueprints and solution design documents, using GenAI capabilities to enhance delivery and operations.
• Experience in data integration and ETL design, particularly from multiple sources such as ERP, CRM, operational databases, APIs, and files.
• Familiarity with metadata and event-driven architecture, capable of implementing best practices for capturing and leveraging metadata in data pipelines.
• Programming proficiency in SQL, Python, and Spark.
• Fluency in English; proficiency in German and/or French is highly preferred.
