IBBIS is seeking a Senior Bioinformatics Engineer to enhance its pioneering open-source DNA synthesis screening tool. This role involves optimizing sequence analysis, improving pathogen detection, and playing a vital part in advancing global biosecurity standards.
We are proud to support IBBIS in its development in Geneva under an exclusive mandate. As an international organization committed to biosecurity and biosafety, IBBIS strengthens international, regional, and national norms while developing innovative tools, including the Common Mechanism, a pivotal system for screening synthetic DNA. In 2025, the priority will be to expand screening of synthetic DNA, support international standards, and bolster responsible research and innovation.
The Senior Bioinformatics Engineer will play a crucial role in optimizing and expanding the Common Mechanism, IBBIS’s open-source sequence screening tool. Over the past year, this tool has validated over 1 million sequences and demonstrated resilience against AI-redesigned pathogens. IBBIS is now enhancing its team to establish this tool as a global standard for synthesis screening.
We are looking for a technically adept candidate with a strong sense of security judgment. You may have experience in pathogen detection, high-performance computing, or scientific software development. Above specific biosecurity expertise, we value your capability to build robust bioinformatics pipelines and make strategic technical decisions.
