Robotics Engineer - Contract - Cambridge, MA

Primary Responsibilities
The successful candidate will focus on developing and integrating robotic systems to support advanced workflows in the immuno-oncology and medical device space.
Skills & Requirements
- Degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Strong experience with ROS2 node development, launch files, and message-service-action interfaces.
- Solid understanding of robot kinematics, including forward/inverse kinematics, Jacobians, and transforms.
- Proficiency in at least one robotic simulation platform, such as NVIDIA Isaac Sim or Gazebo.
- Hands-on experience with physical robots, including robotic arms, AMRs, or mobile manipulators.
- Expertise in at least one of the following: motion planning (e.g., MoveIt2), trajectory generation, autonomous navigation (e.g., Nav2), localization (e.g., SLAM, AMCL), perception (e.g., object detection, depth sensing), or sensor fusion (e.g., IMU, LiDAR, camera integration).
Bonus Points For
- Experience deploying robotic systems in production or field environments.
- Strong programming skills in Python and/or C++ within a ROS2 context.
- Ability to independently debug hardware-software integration issues.
- Experience in lab automation or scientific environments.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Developing ROS2 nodes, launch files, and message-service-action interfaces to support transport workflows.
- Integrating and bringing up physical robotic systems, such as robotic arms, AMRs, or mobile manipulators, into the AISF environment.
- Building and maintaining simulation environments using platforms like NVIDIA Isaac Sim or Gazebo to test and refine hardware deployments.
- Debugging and resolving hardware and software integration issues, including kinematics, calibration, timing, and sensor-related challenges.
- Contributing expertise in areas such as motion planning, navigation, localization, perception, or sensor fusion based on team needs.
- Documenting configurations, failure modes, and operating procedures to ensure scalability and maintainability of deployed systems.
Compensation
$45.00 - $55.00 Per Hour
