Your Responsibilities

As part of the ZuReach project, your tasks will include, but are not limited to:

  • Participating in the design, planning, and implementation of data collection protocols, online and paper-based questionnaires, and focus group discussions.
  • Developing materials in German and English, including flyers, data collection protocols, project descriptions, participants' consent forms, scientific reports, and meeting minutes.
  • Contributing to participant recruitment and scheduling by engaging adults from various backgrounds (e.g., the community, university students) through multiple channels such as social media, mailing lists, email, in-person outreach, and flyers.
  • Training and instructing participants in data collection methods.
  • Conducting on-site data collection in Zurich and Winterthur when required.
  • Researching data quality assessments and assisting with the verification and analysis of collected datasets.
  • Applying AI and digital methods for image processing to extract accessibility features (width, smoothness, etc.) as needed.
  • Collaborating with researchers, public organizations, and other institutions.

Your Profile

We are seeking a highly motivated and open-minded researcher with a passion for science and a strong independent work ethic. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A completed bachelor's degree in Geography, GIScience, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
  • A strong background in quantitative data analysis, statistical analysis, computational modeling, and programming (e.g., Python, SQL, R) is essential.
  • Knowledge of qualitative study design and data analysis.
  • Understanding of spatial data storage and databases.
  • Experience in machine learning/deep learning, image processing, and spatial data analysis is highly desirable.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people, demonstrating helpfulness, respect, approachability, and teamwork.
  • Previous experience in interdisciplinary projects is considered an asset.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in both German and English are mandatory; knowledge of other Swiss national languages (Italian and French) is a plus.
  • A valid Swiss residency permit is required.
