Your Tasks
As a PhD Student, you will be responsible for the following:
- Investigating the texture of additively manufactured (AM) lightweight alloys using wavelength-resolved neutron imaging and relating it to their mechanical properties.
- Developing and applying a texture tomography inverse problem to reconstruct the crystallographic texture of AM components.
- Conducting neutron imaging and diffraction experiments on AM specimens.
- Validating your results with electron microscopy and mechanical testing.
- Publishing results in scientific journals and presenting findings at international conferences.
Your Profile
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Master’s degree in materials science, materials physics, mechanical engineering, applied mathematics, or a related field.
- A keen interest in experimental work, coupled with a high level of motivation and excellent communication skills.
- An excellent command of English.
- Programming skills (e.g., Python) and an interest in numerical methods, data analysis, or inverse problems as an asset.
- Experience with metal additive manufacturing is advantageous.
- Experience with neutron or X-ray diffraction and imaging techniques is preferred.
