PhD Project Available in Nonlinear Optics
A PhD project is available in the Nonlinear Optics group at the Institute of Applied Science, University of Bern. This is an exciting opportunity to engage in innovative research and collaborate with leading experts in the field.
Responsibilities
- Conduct original research within the project.
- Prepare, perform, and analyze laser-based experiments along with related simulations and data analysis.
- Develop and optimize advanced ultrafast spectroscopic setups.
- Interpret results within the context of condensed-matter physics and materials science.
- Write reports and publications, and present talks and posters at international conferences.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners and contribute to day-to-day lab activities.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in physics or a closely related field.
- Background or interest in experimental condensed matter and/or optics.
- Experience with nonlinear optics and/or optical spectroscopy is a plus, though not essential.
- Strong motivation to work with ultrafast lasers, along with a willingness to participate in experiments at large-scale facilities.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
