Position Available: Minister for Lausanne and Geneva Congregations

Eligibility

This opportunity is open to Church of Scotland Ministers and other ministers in the Reformed tradition affiliated with a member church of the World Communion of Reformed Churches. Ministers outside the Church of Scotland need to obtain a certificate of eligibility from the Church of Scotland before their applications can be considered.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will serve as the minister for both the Lausanne and Geneva Congregations, which are currently in deferred linkage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Celebrating the Sacraments, including the Lord’s Supper (or Holy Communion) and Baptism.
  • Preaching and conducting worship services.
  • Moderating meetings of the Kirk Session, guiding discussions on spiritual matters.
  • Conducting funerals and providing pastoral support to the dying and bereaved.
  • Officiating weddings and assisting individuals in preparing for marriage.
  • Offering pastoral care that extends beyond church membership.
  • Exhibiting local leadership while fostering collaboration with others.
  • Engaging in community service relevant to the local context.
  • Maintaining full-time hours across the week.
  • Reporting any absences promptly and submitting medical Fit Notes as necessary.
  • Taking annual time off for rest and personal well-being in accordance with Pulpit Supply arrangements.
  • Displaying integrity of faith and life, embodying Christ-like values and attitudes.

Wider Duties

While the primary role is focused within your Charge or Appointment, you will also engage with Presbytery duties, including serving on Presbytery committees and fulfilling roles as Interim Moderators. There may also be opportunities to serve on committees of the General Assembly.

These responsibilities contribute to the functions of those ordained to the Office of Minister of Word and Sacrament in the Church of Scotland.

Qualifications

A degree in Divinity or Theology is required for this position.

Additional Information

Swiss work and residence permit regulations apply. The Acts of the Church of Scotland are also relevant to this role.
