R&D Operations Technician - Contract - Acton, MA

Are you a hands-on problem solver who takes pride in ensuring that critical R&D operations run smoothly behind the scenes? Proclinical is seeking an R&D Operations Technician to support our R&D teams by managing and preparing essential devices, equipment, and materials.

Primary Responsibilities

This position is responsible for:

  • Maintaining reliable service and asset records.
  • Coordinating equipment readiness.
  • Providing a safe, organized, and trusted support experience.
  • Independently owning standard work with moderate supervision.
  • Ensuring complete records, timely communication, routine problem resolution, and follow-through.

Skills & Requirements

We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with at least four years of relevant experience, or an associate degree or technical education with at least two years of relevant experience.
  • Experience supporting R&D, engineering, technical support, asset management, inventory, laboratory, or service operations.
  • Relevant training in safety, quality, technical support, Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work in various environments including offices, laboratories, stockrooms, staging areas, and equipment storage locations.
  • Capacity to lift and safely handle at least 30 pounds, with reasonable accommodation where applicable.
  • Onsite presence and travel may be required based on site and business needs.

Key Responsibilities

The R&D Operations Technician will:

  • Fulfill equipment, device, material transfer, return, and related support requests through approved channels.
  • Prepare, inspect, configure, stage, deploy, recover, transfer, and return devices and equipment following approved procedures.
  • Maintain accurate asset, inventory, assignment, location, ownership, condition, and lifecycle records in approved business systems.
  • Receive shipments, verify contents, apply required labels or asset tags, store materials in designated locations, and document custody and disposition.
  • Maintain organized stockrooms, staging areas, controlled distribution points, and shared equipment locations using 5S principles.
  • Support routine inventories, reconciliations, asset audits, and discrepancy investigations.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting, configuration checks, reset validation, and escalate issues to the appropriate partner team.
  • Coordinate repair, replacement, calibration, preventive maintenance, or specialized support with authorized teams or service providers.
  • Create and maintain clear how-to guides, process instructions, troubleshooting information, and knowledge resources.
  • Consult with supported teams and recommend alternatives when requested devices or equipment are unavailable.
  • Own standard work from intake through completion, resolving common issues using established procedures.
  • Create or update basic documentation for recurring tasks.

Compensation

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $30 to $38.
